1967: The Doors were banned from The Ed Sullivan Show for life when Jim Morrison defiantly sang the unedited "girl, we couldn't get much higher" lyric from "Light My Fire" on live television. Despite agreeing beforehand to change the controversial drug reference, Morrison ignored the censors and delivered the line as written. A furious Ed Sullivan vowed the band would never return, to which Morrison reportedly shrugged and said, "Hey, man. We just did the Sullivan show."
