1966: Hey, hey, we're The Monkees! The world met the "Pre-Fab Four" as their self-titled television show premiered on NBC. The series, a zany, Beatles-inspired sitcom about a struggling rock band, was an instant hit, launching the careers of Davy Jones, Micky Dolenz, Peter Tork, and Michael Nesmith and turning them into bona fide pop stars. 1975: Pink Floyd released their masterpiece, Wish You Were Here. A poignant and sprawling tribute to their fallen founder, Syd Barrett, the album's themes of absence and disillusionment with the music industry resonated deeply. It soared to number one on both sides of the Atlantic and remains a cornerstone of classic rock.

1989: Proving their late-80s comeback was no fluke, Aerosmith unleashed their tenth album, Pump. Jam-packed with monster hits like "Love in an Elevator," "Janie's Got a Gun," and "The Other Side," the album was a commercial juggernaut that cemented the band's triumphant return to the top of the rock world.

1990: The classic Rumours-era lineup of Fleetwood Mac fractured as both Stevie Nicks and Christine McVie announced they would be leaving the band following the "Behind the Mask" tour. 🎂 Rock Star Birthdays
Neil Peart was born on September 11, 1952, becoming Rush's legendary drummer and primary lyricist. The Professor, as fans called him, was renowned for his complex drum solos, philosophical lyrics, and massive drum kits that resembled small orchestras. Peart joined Rush in 1974 and helped transform them from a blues-rock trio into progressive rock pioneers, writing classics like "Tom Sawyer" and "Limelight."

Johnny Cash, "The Man in Black," died on September 11, 2003, at age 71 in Nashville from complications of diabetes. The Country Music and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee was a towering figure who bridged country, rock, and folk music. His late-career American Recordings series, produced by Rick Rubin, introduced him to new generations and included haunting covers of Nine Inch Nails and Soundgarden.
