1957: The Everly Brothers' "Wake Up Little Susie" reached number one on the Billboard pop chart. Despite being banned by several radio stations for its suggestive lyrics about teenagers staying out past curfew, the song became their first crossover hit, topping pop, country, and R&B charts simultaneously. 1966: Grace Slick made her debut with Jefferson Airplane at the Fillmore Auditorium in San Francisco. She replaced original female vocalist Signe Anderson, marking a pivotal moment that would transform the psychedelic rock band's sound and commercial success. Fillmore performance
