📅 On This Day in Rock History
1964 – The Beatles play their one and only show in New Orleans at the City Park Stadium. The Fab Four were greeted by a capacity crowd of 12,000 screaming fans, and Mayor Victor Schiro even declared it 'Beatles Day' in the city. What a welcome to the Big Easy! See rare footage from their New Orleans show!
1967 – Back at Abbey Road studios, The Beatles were hard at work, recording 11 takes of Paul McCartney's charming, vaudeville-style tune "Your Mother Should Know." This particular version was ultimately scrapped, but it shows the band's relentless creative process during their most psychedelic and experimental phase. Watch the official video for the classic song.
1970 – In what would be his final public performance, Jimi Hendrix made a surprise appearance at Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club in London. He joined his friend Eric Burdon and the band War on stage for a jam, just 48 hours before his tragic death. A truly legendary, bittersweet moment. Listen to a recording of that final jam.
1991 – Just days before Nevermind would change the world, Nirvana played a chaotic and legendary in-store performance at Beehive Records in Seattle. The raw, unfiltered energy of this show gave fans a taste of the grunge explosion that was about to detonate across the music scene. Watch the full, raw performance from that day.
