1956 - Elvis Presley made his legendary first appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show, drawing 60 million viewers (82.6% of the TV audience). Host Charles Laughton filled in for the injured Sullivan, introducing "Elvin" Presley to America. The King performed "Don't Be Cruel," "Love Me Tender," "Ready Teddy," and "Hound Dog," changing rock and roll forever.

1971 - John Lennon released his masterpiece album "Imagine" through Apple Records. The album reached #1 in both the US and UK, featuring the iconic title track that became his signature song. Dave Stewart (born September 9, 1952) turns 73 today! The Eurythmics guitarist and songwriter from Sunderland, England, created some of the most innovative music of the 1980s with partner Annie Lennox. Beyond "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)" and "Here Comes the Rain Again," Stewart has produced for Tom Petty, Mick Jagger, and Bob Dylan. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2022.
